Effective Presentations and Reports

This 20 hour course aims at developing the ability of students to engage in critical analysis of texts such as reports and opinion pieces on relevant topics, to articulate their understanding in discussions, and to present their ideas formally in written reports and oral presentations. The interactive nature of the course provides students with opportunities to express their ideas and to gain feedback on their speaking and writing ability. In addition to whole class sessions, there are one-to-one conferences to provide individualized feedback and guidance.


By the end of the course, students should be able to:

  1. Engage in critical analysis of content-relevant texts
  2. Synthesize facts, concepts and principles ·
  3. Hold meaningful and engaging conversations ·
  4. Make effective group presentations ·
  5. Give a brief persuasive individual presentation, speaking clearly with conviction, ·
  6. Respond to questions in order to clarify a particular issue ·
  7. Use clear and logical structure and appropriate style to produce a written report
