Effective Communication Workshops

The Centre for English Communication (CEC) offers workshops that are designed to help students improve their written and oral communication in their major fields. These workshops enable students to deliver more cogent, persuasive and professional outcomes to industry partners and faculty.

We currently offer workshops in four main areas:

Argumentation

Teaches students to craft a well-structured and persuasive argument.

Explores how to communicate a position persuasively, how to start and end a written work that gains the reader’s attention and leaves a memorable impression, how to write clearly and cogently.

Writing

Trains students to write clearly, concisely and coherently

Covers structures of reports and proposals, organising information efficiently, using targeted and effective language.

Pitching

Equips students to pitch their ideas persuasively.

Covers persuasive communication, audience analysis, presentation skills.

Presentation

Teaches students to communicate professionally in presentations.

Highlights audience engagement, using verbal and non-verbal communication to communicate effectively, slide design and visual unity.
